| | An engineer (Wentworth Miller) installs himself in a prison he helped design, in order to help his brother (Dominic Purcell), a death-row inmate who insists he did not commit the crime for which he has been sentenced to die and help him escape.Lincoln Burrows is on death row for the murder of the vice president's brother. He insists he's innocent and only his brother Michael Scofield believes him. As an engineer who helped design the prison where Lincoln is being held, Michael takes drastic measures to help his brother. He gets himself arrested and sent to the same prison so that with his knowledge of the building the two of them can escape together. However, while inside, Michael discovers a massive conspiracy that is determined to see Lincoln's sentence carried out. Breaking out will be more difficult than he thought, but he's still going to try.
Lincoln Burrows este condamnat la moarte pentru uciderea fratelui Vice-Preşedintei SUA şi încarcerat în închisoarea Fox River, în aşteptarea executării sentinţei: moartea prin electrocutare. Fratele lui, Michael Scofield, este însă convins că Lincoln este nevinovat şi se hotărăşte să îl salveze. Întocmeşte un plan ingenios de evadare şi, pentru a putea pătrunde în închisoare, îşi înscenează propria arestare: simulează jefuirea unei bănci, iar la proces pledează vinovat. Odată condamnat, este trimis, la cererea sa, în închisoarea de maximă securitate Fox River, unde se află şi Lincoln. Aici începe să îşi pună în aplicare evadarea, ajutându-se de planul codat al închisorii pe care şi l-a tatuat pe corp. Pentru ca totul să decurgă perfect, are însă nevoie de cooperarea câtorva deţinuţi, criminali periculoşi, pe care trebuie să îi atragă de partea sa.
